Savage Minds: Now More Than Ever

It’s gratifying — and, indeed, surprising — to see how popular SM has become since it opened for business mere weeks ago. We have just about 200 subscribers to our RSS feed and even more people reading the site in unaggregated form. What I find even more rewarding is the fact that we have already developed the beginnings of a community that can discuss the issues we raise on the cite with a remarkably low level of trolling. So thanks for reading and participating, everyone.

And, now that it’s sufficiently official (I think) I’d like to welcome two new members to Savage Minds. Kathleen ‘Ozma’ Lowrey and Tak ‘Old Revolution’ Watanabe have come on board as new… what do we call ourselves? Contributors? Savages? Bricoleurs? Please join me in welcoming them onboard for what I am sure will be a long and fruitful stint of bloggage. As we say in PNG, welkam, tupela!

Man, is the SM party at the AAAs going to be the most rawk evar or what?

You should really be careful when talking about SM parties on the Internet. Some people might get all kinds of interesting ideas. Not that interesting ideas aren’t good . . .

  2. I have TOTALLY been thinking about the hidden meaning of the acronym, but thought I was the only one. Just to let everyone know, although I’ve been out of action on the web for a while for various reasons, I’m planning some sort of bloggers get-together for the AAAs. I’m waiting to see what time the blogging panel I organized is, and then I’ll schedule something say that evening (if it’s a good time) so that we can get the word out by various viral media–at that panel, on our blogs, through lists like AoIR and CASTAC, and through flyers at the AAAs. I’ll be glad to work with you to schedule it if you want to make it a group thing. I was just thinking we’d go out to one of the restaurants or bars in the area–does anyone have a better idea? e-mail me.
