A great post, thanks!

I found particularly interesting the signs in temples and hospitals being so amicable - all signs I've personally seen were rather brusque (like, say, this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/5jjqam/my_mother_recently_visited_thailand_and_sent_me/).
On the other hand, some business were keen to take (commercial) advantage of the Pokestops inside or nearby them (https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/58pgz5/my_sis_saw_this_pok%C3%A9stop_inside_a_shopping_mall/). And, recently, Starbucks and Pokemon GO had a partnership in the US - you could order a special Pokemon beverage at Starbucks, which were all temporarily converted into Pokestops.

Of course, as you said, this all stems from the different layers of usage such spaces have - and, in the latter case, of Pokemon GO being a social phenomenon, yes, but first and foremost a commercial product.
