"By pledging itself itself to facilitate” “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people”, Britain initiated the displacement of Palestine’s indigenous inhabitants".
Wrong on two accounts. First of all the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine did not mean that the Arabs in Palestine were supposed to be kicked out of it. they were supposed to continue living exactly where they were only instead of under a British or Ottoman rule, they were supposed to live under Jewish/Israeli rule. the Arabs in Palestine NEVER ruled themselves on the land.
Secondly, the "Palestinians" are not the "indigenous inhabitants" of Palestine. They are ARABS who came to Palestine from other parts of the middle east. The Ottoman counted 270,000 people in ALL of Palestine in 1800, including Jews. the land was MOSTLY empty when the Zionists settled in it. The facts that now there are millions of "Palestinians" is because of their very high birthrate which characterize Arab societies everywhwere. But 270,000 people (including Jews) are hardly a "people" and hardly a people which deserves solely a land that was NEVER theirs, and a land which is the ancient homeland of the Jews - a people that was WITHOUT a land, unlike the Arabs in Palestine which came from and could have settledvery easily in Jordan, Egypt, Syria or Lebanon if only these countries didn't deliberately put them in camps and refused to absorb them in order to continue the pressure on Israel.
