Can anthropology save you from the zombie apocolypse?

Everybody knows you can defeat real zombies with salt, but which anthropologists would you want by your side in mankind’s final stand against the Evil Dead?

Zombie team

Did you survive?

  1. i saw sol tax (#28 above) live and in person once – it was at a panel discussion sponsored by people connected with the Skeptical Inquirer – provoked by the supercilious cynicism of another panelist, he asked exasperatedly, “what is it you LIKE?”

  2. I came one day from having napoleon Chagnon on my team. Pretty sure I’d kill him with an axe and take all his wives in the first few minutes of the Zombie Apocalypse, so I guess it’s a good thing I got Paul Farmer. Who’s a physician! You gotta have that on your team.

  3. Someone on the internet has already pondered this question (about social theorists, not anthropologists, though):

Wright Mills, Michel FoucaultAdditional Tags: Zombies, Alternate Universe – Apocalypse, Road Trip, Motorcycles, Alternate Universe – Modern SettingSummary: No one had ever expected a critical theory conference to end so poorly. The worst you could usually expect was that someone would get wine thrown on them.

  4. I have Charlotte Lewis, Greg Graffin, and Vine Deloria. So I got one anthropologist and she’s fictional. Hey, speaking of fictional anthropologists, where is Jared Diamond?

  5. I’ve got Kurt Vonnegut on my team. We are standing really close to the edge and things are looking good.

  6. Ixak, I just don’t know if he would identify himself as an anthropologist since he chose to go a different direction in his education. That’s all.
