On The Media just covered this story on their show. The thing that bothered me about this is the suggestion that National Geographic is some kind of august institution whose reputation could be sullied by association with such trashy TV shows. Really? I’m not sure this is really anything different than what they’ve always done in print form.

SHA and SAA have both made public statements opposing it. I just asked Rosemary Joyce (head of the Archaeology Division of the AAA) about the AAA on twitter this afternoon, and she said something should be coming from them as well. Not sure if AIA has made any statement yet.
