If you look at this picture of Mauss http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/information/biography/klmno/images/mauss_marcel.jpg , I think you’ll agree that only Sacha Baron Cohen who can do him justice in the upcoming film “Annee Get Your Gun!”. Besides, as Borat, he was funniest when giving gifts, like that ritual cheese offering to Bob Barr, and he did have that special supply of a certain kind of hair to give in emergency situations.

bq. First, I think there has got to be a role for Sacha Baron Cohen somewhere. Second, I’d propose Andrea McArdle for the title role (- of “Annie Sociologique”, of course). I can even hear her voicing over “The sun’ll come up tomorrow” as Durkheim is putting the finishing touches on Suicide…

LOL. I agree that Sacha Baron Cohen should be cast. Frankly, I see him as Durkheim. Going in this direction, one also wonders whether Stephen Colbert might make a good addition as well.

I’m pretty sure Tarantino’s demographique these days is 30-something film afficianados. No, I think a film like this deserves Spike Jonze, and if he can get Charlie Kaufman to write the sceenplay, all the better.

What about a director? We don’t have a director. Is this a gorgeously filmed Merchant-Ivory epic? Or a sweeping Spielberg-esque big-screen historical drama? Maybe a fast paced, twisting Guy Richie kind of thing, minus Madonna. Maybe Ang Lee? Floating sociophilosophers?
