Savage Minds on Facebook

Since it seems all the cool academic blogs have their own Facebook group, I felt Savage Minds need one as well. If you have a Facebook account feel free to become a member and help make this work.

UPDATE: Wow. In less than 24 hours we have 38 members! Now what? Please post your ideas to the group’s discussion page!

  1. Wonderful initiative!!

The thing with blogging is that it’s still author-focused, despite the community engagement. Less obvious with a collaborative blog like SM, but still active as a principle. “You write, they read.” Facebook is more about fluid interactions.
Many Facebook groups simply show connections between people. People join a group to show support for a cause (they can also use the “Causes” application) or to tell friends about some vague affiliation. Given the Savage Minds frame, it’s quite possible that the SM group on Fb may become something altogether a bit different. It will certainly be interesting to see.

    Thanks for doing this!
