David Graeber has been talking about Mauss’s revolutionary politics for quite some time, and also pushing a reading of Mauss’s work that incorporates it. Chapter 6 “Marcel Mauss Revisted” of his book “Toward an Anthropological Theory of Value” is a nearly 80 page treatise on the topic, and he is none too happy with folks like Mary Douglas, who he feels have radically misinterpreted Mauss in a “neo-liberal” fashion.
