		<description>The issue of concealing poverty in India is a national scandal in itself. The government statistics have been roundly criticised for years, and the international community seemed happy to buy into this. 

And then suddenly the tide turns, the World Bank starts admitting that the &quot;Miracle&quot; of social transformation is a fiction, just as &quot;fiction&quot; starts to lead the debate, as White Tiger wins the booker and Slumdog rolls towards the oscars.
